Sep. 28th, 2006 04:44 pmThanks for the computer advice, everybody. I took it in to a repairperson and he said the hard drive has failed. The repair place ordered a new drive and I ordered the product recovery software, the latter of which has arrived. Though I haven't been informed about the status of the hard drive order, I suspect they've got it and I just have to bring in the CDs for them to set everything up. As for the data, he hasn't gotten back to me about whether it can be recovered.
Very little has happened in my life for the past while, really. I volunteered for Doors Open Newmarket and wore a plaid shirt (and slacks) and showed people the train station.
Mum and I are planning a trip to Montreal; we leave on the 30th and return on Tuesday.
The Towhee reunion has been announced as taking place on October 28 and I need to let them know I can't attend. I already phoned the director to discuss whether needing to leave to use time on a visa is a valid excuse, and she seemed to think it was okay. It will be sad to miss seeing the kids and staff again though, of course. The director encouraged me to create a message to send to the reunion, so I'll do that.
In the course of attempting to organize my room and plethora of belongings, I've rediscovered my stamp collection and spent far too much time geeking out. Among the more fascinating items I've inherited from Mum's, her dad's and my great-aunt's collections: a Third Reich stamp, an illicit Albanian stamp and a United Arab Republic stamp.
