Back-dated England entry #5: Wednesday
Feb. 26th, 2003 12:00 pm(Another one written a lot later.)
Exhaustion finally caught up with
soubrette on Wednesday (in addition to, as usual, catching up with me almost immediately) so we both slept in. Following ablutions and much indecision, we decided to rest and see a bit more of Cambridge instead of going to London that afternoon as previously planned. We rode on the Cambridge tour bus and enjoyed it despite what I recall as noticeably nippy weather.
Then we were off to Castle Hill and Castle Mound. We bumped into friends of
soubrette on the way, as usual. Hannah's suggestion that we see Salome at the ADC was duly noted. We reached the top, had a look at Cambridge in the mist of the early evening and, despite
soubrette's repeated insistence that it would be, it was not boring! I took a DIY panorama photograph which unfortunately didn't turn out because I didn't have a zoom lense or high ISO film with me.
Hall dinner was not formal this time. I was delighted to be allowed to participate in the Sidney choir rehearsal and sang with enthusiasm even when the alto part went above high D, much to Claire's puzzlement. The Bun Shop outing afterwards was enjoyable, but time was already very short when we left--something I didn't fully realize when I stopped to get change for a panhandler--so we missed the last bus. The walk was nice though.
Here is
soubrette's entry about the day.
