A busy week
It certainly has been busy. I've been relatively well organized, getting up almost on time and all, yet I barely managed to get ready for an in-class practice test today, and I'm not prepared for a mid-term exam tomorrow. Let's see, what's been happening...
Pirates rehearsals. We're dancing now! Oodles of fun, though as tiring as it is possible to be. I haven't done choreographed dance in such a long time that I'd almost forgotten how much fun it is. Oh, and acting, also fun though I stink at it. I get to fall on the floor and sob in one of the three scenes I'm in; needless to say, I got quite a lot of dust and muck on my shirt, and I'm seriously considering doing the scene without my glasses.
I attended a fabulous concert by Measha Brueggergosman (winner of the 2001 Wigmore Hall International Song Competition in London), one of series of recitals I got to attend for free as a first year student. She's only three years older than me, with an unbelievable voice, a marvellous sense of humour, and a fantastic stage presence. Her voice is marvellously flexible, encompassing numerous tone colours and varieties. She sings Wagner, Kurt Weil, lieder, jazz, and spirituals with equal ease. She nearly fell off the stage on her way out following the final song on the program, made a quick about-face, and addressed the audience: "That's an omen. It means we have to stay and perform our encore!"
Have I mentioned room draw yet? I managed to get a room in another one of the satellite residences (formerly regular residential houses) where a number of my friends will be living next year. My closest friends are all graduating next year and I don't know how I'll be able to tolerate it, but I've mentioned that already...
I have an Introduction to Western Religions mid-term tomorrow. I forgot to get the professor to sign a form allowing me extra time and use of a computer (for my learning disability). Bleurgh. Although I did read the chapters a while ago, I should be studying for it now.
