"Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout would not take the garbage out!"
(See the marvellous original poem here.)
Actually, I had no problem taking the garbage out on Thursday night, though I did end up running back from the street in a panic when the neighbour's dog came after me. My problem is with the dishes.
See, I tend to procrastinate about the simplest tasks, even those that won't take up much time. In addition, I'm living alone in a house equipped with enough dishes for four people and I eat only two real meals a day. Furthermore, I've been trained to wait for the sink to be full before washing the dishes, in order to save water. No packaging just gets thrown out in New Brunswick--it's all washed, rinsed, dried, and recycled. All still manageable, except that in caring for this cat I use up three cans of wet cat food a week. I rinse all the dishes and cans before leaving them in the sink, but still:
Used cat food tins + More than a couple days = A stink I can only leave to your imagination*
A lesson learned.
* the precise reason why I was reminded of the poem
