Re: the previous entry
Jul. 16th, 2002 04:35 pmYes, it did pay off, briefly: $14 exactly. I ended up teaching one flute student and one clarinet student who spoke only French (now that was interesting). I basically just got a grip on where their playing was in those first lessons; I made all sorts of plans for the following weeks, looking up more clarinet information and so on. I was getting pretty excited about the progress we could make.
When I called Mum to pick me up following that evening of lessons, she reminded to request that the lesson day be changed for the just the following week so that I could fulfil my previous obligation as a Guider on her Pathfinder canoe trip. I mentioned this to the studio owner; she seemed to think it was fine and said she'd call me back to make arrangements. I was called back a few days later (following WhoserCon, July 5-8) with the news that they had worked out an arrangement with the previous teacher, so it was "all taken care of." To put it simply, I was... uh... sacked.
So much for that. I wish those students all the best--if only I could still teach them.
