Another entry finally taken out of point form nearly two years after the fact...

On Tuesday, we went to Oxford. I was stupid that morning and misunderstood a) when others were going to take showers, and b) that [livejournal.com profile] soubrette was saying we had to get to the bus terminal and not just the bus stop... so I caused us to miss the 10:15 bus. We ([livejournal.com profile] soubrette, [livejournal.com profile] plotinus, and I) caught the next bus, met up with [livejournal.com profile] slovakia in Oxford and made it to the Mongolian Wok just before they closed the doors. Once I got the hang of the chopsticks, it was a delicious meal.

Then we started to have a bit of a look around town. [livejournal.com profile] slovakia and [livejournal.com profile] soubrette shopped at Lush; neither of us remaining two were particularly interested in that so we stood outside and gazed longingly up and down the street. [I have the words "spontaneous seance in Cornmarket Street" written in my notes here but no idea what they mean any more. Pity.] We took the cheesy tourist bus and the nice tour guide "Oooh!"-ed at the fact that there were Cambridge folks visiting Oxford. Further daft photos were taken of people lying on the floor of the roof of the bus.

Then to a charming ice cream shop, where [livejournal.com profile] soubrette was delighted to run into James (Cupes). [livejournal.com profile] plotinus and I opted out of a pub visit to take a walk around and see the colleges and assorted interesting buildings before daylight was completely gone. I dropped my zoom lens while juggling equipment before taking a photo of Magdalen College and (unluckily) dented it but (luckily) didn't smash it to smithereens.

Following quite a pleasant restaurant dinner at which I made a fool of myself by misidentifying the chords in the song playing on the radio (doh!), we had rather (*cough*) an unpleasant coach ride back due to the lack of access to washroom facilities. Moods were considerably more relaxed once we'd gotten to use the Sidney loos.

Here is [livejournal.com profile] soubrette's entry about the day.
