I had desperately hoped to get to the Dufay Collective's Canadian debut in Toronto this past Friday. No such luck - it was sold out. But . . .
I got to see a concert featuring James Bowman (the granddaddy of modern counter-tenors), Daniel Taylor (a more recent star counter-tenor), and the music of Purcell! And it was exquisite! Listen to recordings by either of them and you'll know what I mean.
(This was in addition to two other performances attended during the break: Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, and an amateur production of G&S's Patience.)
Must hurry to dinner now. More details later, hopefully.
