a poor excuse for an entry
Aug. 23rd, 2002 02:52 amI didn't make it to the CNE today. Big surprise. Still working on the improv write-ups. My flute is away for repairs so I couldn't practice even if I were organized enough. I'm looking forward to camping out with my Mum all weekend at a folk festival. I need to get to sleep soon so that I can wake up early enough tomorrow.
Since my day was so dull, here's... a survey! I filled it out yesterday.
APPEARANCE
hair: fairly long, blondish-brownish

RIGHT NOW
wearing: purple cotton slacks, Stratford Festival t-shirt, Wigwam socks
listening to: the fridge humming
thinking of: needing to get up early tomorrow to go to the CNE
LAST THING YOU
bought: popcorn at the movies
ate & drank: herbal tea, water, sister's left-over Glossettes
read: Shakespeare's The Tempest or the newspaper
watched on tv: random flipping for a few minutes before the movie
EITHER / OR
club or houseparty: houseparty, I guess - little experience in either, uncomfortable at both
tea or coffee: tea for taste, coffee for jolt
achiever or slacker: wannabe achiever, drifts into slacker
beer or cider: medically can't drink alcohol - uh, cider?
drinks or shots: see above
cats or dogs: cats
pen or pencil: whatever's handy; pen if I want to write a reminder on my hand, pencil if I want to erase it afterwards
gloves or mittens: gloves if possible, mittens if it's cold
food or candy: food, I guess
cassette or cd: CD unless I'm being cheap
coke or pepsi: don't like either much - Coke if forced to choose
hard or mild alcohol: see above
matches or a lighter: ugh, smoke - for fires, whatever's handy
WHO DO YOU WANT TO
kill: no one; eliminate painlessly, possibly a few world leaders I can think of
hear from: anybody with good wishes or news
LAST PERSON YOU...AND WHEN?
touched: shook hands with a person's mother
talked to: Mum
hugged: my great-uncle in Chicago
kissed: can't remember - I'm physically a very shy person
WHERE DO YOU
eat: anywhere it's not considered rude to eat
dance: usually wherever I'm alone
cry: in the house, my bedroom; elsewhere, public washrooms
wish you were: in bed, asleep
HAVE YOU EVER
Dated one of your best friends? no
Loved somebody so much it makes you cry? yes
Drank alcohol? yes
Done drugs? illegal, no; taken legal prescription on non-prescription drugs, far too often
Broken the law? not knowingly
Ran away from home? no
Broken a bone? Does a tiny bone my wrist count?
Cheated on a test? intentionally, once
Played Truth Or Dare? no
Kissed someone you didn't know? no
Been on a talk show/game show? no
Been in a fight? no
Ridden in a fire truck? no
Been on a plane? yes
Come close to dying? An incompetent babysitter once put me (an infant) to sleep with a cough drop in my mouth. Does that count?
Cheated on your Boy/Girlfriend? never (*gasp*) had a boyfriend or girlfriend
Gave someone a piggy back/shoulder ride? yes
Eaten a worm/mud pie? no
Swam in the ocean? no
Had a nightmare/dream that made you wake up? yes
What is
the most embarrassing CD in your collection? The one containing only a cheesy pop theme song written for a charity by someone I knew only vaguely in high school; I don't know why I keep it. That or my flute audition CD-R.
Your bedroom like? once neat, but getting messier
Your favorite thing for breakfast? changes monthly - grapefruits at university
Your favorite thing for lunch? anything that tastes good and isn't soggy if it's a bagged lunch
Your favorite thing for dinner? changes when I get sick of certain foods
Your favorite Restaurant? depends on my mood
ARE YOU
A vegetarian?: I eat very little meat (especially red meat), but not really
A good student?: I struggle; oddly, my grades are usually fantastic or awful
A good singer?: pretty good chorister, not great soloist
A good actor/actress? depends how nervous I am and how much preparation I had
A deep sleeper?: oh, yes
A good dancer?: if it's choreographed, I can probably do it decently (took ballet for nine years), but if it's not I'm clueless
A good artist?: nope
Shy?: too the extreme at times, sometimes manage to cover it up
Outgoing?: when I'm comfortable, yes
A good storyteller?: so-so
One funny thing about writing livejournal entries: I'm usually not listening to music when I write them. I listen to music a great deal, so it seems deceptive to always leave the box blank. I will almost always have music in my head, but quite frequently it's a mish-mash of more than one piece.
I tend to write at night before going to bed, so the radio isn't on. I'm incapable of writing and listening to music on earphones at the same time. And I am the sort of person who likes to devote my entire attention to listening to music, i.e. notice all the words, probably analyze the music, have the liner notes in hand if possible. So when I write an entry and see the "Current Music" box it makes me feel somehow, uh... guilty.
