What is this, the Middle Ages? I'll concede to the Church the decision to put pressure on most of its parishioners to vote in a certain way, but punishing politicians for representing their constituents would violate the whole idea of representative democracy.
And, of course, there's the separation of church and state which is standard protocol in many countries. The Vatican may not like it, but there aren't many theocracies around.
