Nov. 5th, 2005 04:14 pmIt's rather late to show now, but here's my Halloween costume. I was going for a Medieval look modelled, as the case happens to be, on several of the costumes (10th to 15th century) depicted on Kings and Queens of England playing cards! I was originally going to do a female Medieval or Renaissance costume but a male costume turned out to be much easier to assemble--and besides, it matches my hair better.

I should have accessorized with a leather pouch/pocket or a small plastic sword or dagger, but I didn't have the chance to assemble anything. I strongly considered carrying a ukulele, recorder or chant manuscript and saying I was Machaut, but I already had to cart around a lot of study materials that day so I wouldn't have been able to manage it; besides, most people I would encounter that day (i.e. not music students) wouldn't get the reference. Occasionally, I claimed to be Medieval university student.
My Halloween wasn't particularly exciting. I wrote a Linguistics mid-term, went to a massage therapist appointment, did schoolwork at the library, practiced (and took the photos in the practice room), attended Jazz Choir, carved a jack-o-lantern at UUCQ and bicycled to and from campus. All in costume, of course. Rather disappointingly, very few people wore costumes to class. It was fun making people chuckle as I went by though.
