Ah-ha! I've discovered the Monty Python sketch that caused me nightmares and about half a decade of total fear of anything connected with their name. To an overly-sensitive child like me, this was horrific--more so because it was so incredibly corny. For some reason, camp horror and violence has always frightened me much more than anything realistic.

NB: Nowadays, I do really like Monty Python, by the way, even though they're not my favourite British comedy.

(Yes, I do intend to write a real entry some day.)

Monty Python was never as good as it's claimed. There was maybe one brilliant sketch per show, a couple of reasonable ones and the rest was rubbish. The rubbish is glossed over these days and the brilliant ones come out in compilations.

I've never seen that sketch, but geez! Think they could have used any more blood?!? And I don't think every single Python sketch is good. It varies.

Gross. We need to have a conversation some time about what used to scare us. I'm glad you remember these types of things, because I do too. I'll give you a sample or two.

My mom made this huge rug with a rainbow pattern on it, and it was the 80's so it was supposed to go on the wall. It scared the shit out of me and one night, I literally couldn't get back to sleep until my mom took it off the wall. Even when I see pictures of my old room and it's there, I shudder.

Also, old movies scare me. Like, Charlie Chaplin. Always have.

Honestly, I've never liked the Salad Days sketch, because I'm extremely squeamish. Even when dealing with copious quantities of admittedly fake blood, I can't stand to watch it.
