I just finished attending the first showing of The Prisoner. Wow, is that show creepy. (But also fascinating. I will probably be unable to resist comimg back next week.)

Sep. 22nd, 2002 10:59 pmIt's hard to believe after the dented head joint and leaking pad, but yet another thing is wrong with my flute. Another pad is leaking air, and this time it's one that can't be adjusted with a screwdriver.
And it all happens the week before my jury. At least I've now found out part of the reason I was playing so badly yesterday.

I attended the group auditions for Garnet & Gold (chorus) today. I would really love to be in the pit orchestra again (especially considering the show's music!) but chorus would be good too. It was fun although draining and kind of scary for me. The dancing was easy enough (8 years of ballet coming in handy), but I always find acting intimidating, especially improvised acting exercises.
To my surprise, I ended up auditioning on my own as well. It turned out that the production execs wanted people who were interested in "featured chorus" (some extra dancing or singing) to sign up for individual auditions. I hadn't known that before, so there was only one slot left, in a very inconvenient time. The group "audition" (workshop, really) ended at noon, following which I went to the church to find out that rehearsals for the R. Murray Schafer liturgical/music drama were cancelled, rushed home, changed out of my (sweaty) shirt, and hurried to the Conservatory with about five minutes to choose a song before my second audition. That afternoon was... interesting. (I didn't read a monologue because I'm not trying out for speaking parts.)
