It makes me go weak in the knees to read about this. (This too, though I doubt I'd have the prerequisites. This would also be very interesting.)

At this point I'm daydreaming but I am seriously considering applying for the summer term. I really want to go there at some point; it's a questions of whether I will apply this year or the next. I need to make some money--especially if I want to go to the ISC--and the summer term conflicts with the only summer job that currently looks like a real possibility. I already have other summer commitments that conflict with the aforementioned possible job (at Fort Henry) so it's all still a muddle in my head. At the same time: will I be able to rationalize taking second- and third-year courses at the ISC a year from now?

I am so out of touch that I just found out about the Madrid bombings a couple hours ago. I condemn the attacks to the fullest extent possible, as I condemn all terrorism, but I can't help worrying what further effect this will have on the vicious cycle of revenge. In my (admittedly limited) perspective, violence begets violence. No matter whether it was ETA or al Qaeda (or neither)--on with the "war on terror"! Fewer civil liberties, more violence, more death, more anger, more retaliation back and forth...
