(Or is that "cap"? I haven't written about it before)

July 24-26: I spent the weekend in Toronto with some Old Guard Whosers. A low-key but fun time. It's always nice to catch up with old friends.

July 26: I saw a quite good production of Much Ado About Nothing in Newmarket.

July 27: My parents and two friends of the family accompanied me back to Kingston. I dropped in to work to check my schedule for the next day (which turned out to be uninteresting for my parents to see), and Mum bought me a reproduction bugle at the gift shop. I can now play five different notes on it.

July 28: I returned to work. The crowd mentioned above visited the Fort for about half the day, saw a bit of Kingston, and returned to the GTA. My parents witnessed a not-too-great tour in which I tried to shepherd about forty people along a route designed to hold about thirty. Nevertheless, they tell me they enjoyed it. My second time playing Atkins was a lot more fun because I got "locked" in a garrison cell... and guarded by a group of children whom I could talk with and make rude faces at.

For the first time, I did no marching at all in that evening's Sunset Ceremony. This is because only those going to Washington were performing. The reject group... er, "home guard" left after the show. Some of the Washington contingent slept over at the Fort and all departed at five o'clock the next morning.

July 29-30: Days off

July 31-August 8: Work. My body cannot handle nine straight days. The Washington group returns on Monday. My team's second Armstrong race is on Wednesday; weather and conflicting schedules have conspired to keep us from practicing more than once since the last race.
