Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it. I have a huge mid-term exam on Thursday for which I am woefully underprepared and I'm still struggling with a sore throat and getting my sleep patterns under control, so I've avoided every single party opportunity offered to me. The house smelled of alcohol again for most of this weekend. Oh, joy.

I did dress up to go to QMT rehearsal today, though. What was I dressed as, you ask? Why, a Morris dancer[1] It's a form of dance I've always wanted to try--I love its sheer goofiness--and, I admit it, I wanted an excuse to walk around with my miniature button accordion. Owing to a shortage of men's shirts, ribbons, baldrics, sashes, bells, knee-length trousers, scrap fabric, and flowers (and also because no one would know the difference), my costume was of necessity an amalgam of several different Morris kits.

I worked my evening as an usher on Wednesday. Aside from some difficulties with my "professional" black clothing (static cling!!), it was a rather enjoyable time. Access to chocolate truffles was far too convenient. Pity I didn't get to hear much of the concert.

In my usual role as audience member (but as a part of the same series), I attended a quite good faculty concert on Saturday. The primary attraction was their performance of Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time. (Very nice.) Bartok's Contrasts was an additional bonus.

[1] Trust me to come up with a costume that no one will be able to identify. Sheesh.
