I spoke to the church music director last Sunday and, though both he and the choir expressed their dismay in losing a member, choir is definitely out for the rest of the term because it conflicts so closely with the Mahler class.

However (and completely coincidentally), the minister asked me if I could do a little pre-reading flute solo for the next few weeks, so I'll at least be making some musical contribution. Some choir or soloist accompaniment might also be a possibility some time.

Of all the reasons to miss my first two classes after getting up and eating breakfast early enough, falling and banging my head and then having to take time to a) treat swelling and bleeding, b) make sure I hadn't gotten a concussion, and c) prevent myself from falling again (e.g. showering took longer than usual)... has got to be the stupidest.
