I just placed my first bid on eBay
Jun. 30th, 2003 12:54 amOn eBay.ca[1], that is. My first bid. Ever. Since I started using the internet (and not just the WWW) in 1995.
Is it sad that this feels like a milestone to me?
* * *
I've finally come to grips with the fact that it looks like I'm transferring, and now when people ask me about plans for next year... I tell them. Most are (unsurprisingly) shocked that I would want to leave and I have to go through the whole rigmarole of listing and justifying my reasons. It's all more than a bit heart-wrenching.
Like most Sundays since I returned to Sackville, I made it to church today. Also like most of those Sunday, I was late. K (star of Remember Susanna, won't bother with pseudonym) came up to me afterwards and ask if, since Imogen was back in town, I would be interested in "doing something" musical with the two of them for next Sunday. (*sigh*) The possibility is not out of the question but I have to choose between that and acting as a leader at a Pathfinder canoe trip back home. If I can change my train ticket[2] with minimal penalty, I'm leaning towards staying for a couple extra days; they're wonderful people, performance opportunities are always good, and it would be a nice to way to "say goodbye" to the town. (At this point, my ticket is booked for Wednesday.)
[1] NB in case I hadn't already said: this house has (a) a computer (b) dial-up. That explains the sudden frequency of journal entries as well as the eBay activity.
[2] Whee! Also taking a long-distance train for the first time ever. I get to sleep in a berth! Excess baggage isn't so costly and I'm hoping my accordion will get banged around a bit less than at the airport.
