poor, neglected LiveJournal
Nov. 7th, 2003 10:52 pmStuff has happened. I finally got a haircut; judging by most reactions, I'm apparently "cute!" now. My own reaction: my neck feels cold. *g* (And no,
soubrette, I don't have any pictures yet.)
I discovered a really messy but also really nifty "alternative" record/CD store in town. It specializes in--get this--blues, jazz, folk, and world music, just to name a few. And just to make things that much more interesting, I discovered in that first visit that the proprietor not only used to know the Arrogant Worms (in their original Kingston incarnation, obviously) but also has a waiting list for the Blue Skies Festival.
I didn't dress up for Halloween (couldn't find a costume in the used clothing store), but I saw a fabulous production of Amadeus in Toronto the next day, courtesy of a Christmas gift certificate from my (also fabulous) great-aunt. I've wanted to see that (admitted flawed but still compelling) play ever since we read it in Grade 10 English. In my humble opinion, the play still works better than the movie.
I got a flu shot last Wednesday and it gave me a case of mini-flu.
And speaking of the flu... (now there's a segueway!): my laptop got a virus. So... *ahem*... "encouraged" by those circumstances, I've spent about four hours a day for the past week first getting the computer operational and then backing up data. As I've probably already mentioned, it has become obvious to me and the ITS that I'm going to have to wipe the hard drive and re-install Windows 2000 in order to get the Service Packs to install successfully. It looks like tonight and tomorrow are the big days. Wish me luck. (I hope I didn't forget to save something.)
