MUSC 480: Genre Studies: Opera and the Romantic Tradition
Yay! Not surprisingly, I am vastly outnumbered by voice majors. (In fact, I am the class's sole pupil of the dangerously passionate, ecstatic, and frenzied art of flute playing.) Still not sure why there isn't a regularly offered course on opera, but glad I'm around for its first and last term. Now I need to catch up on the readings.

RELS 214: The New Testament
Have yet to attend this class because I just registered in it. The original plan was to sign up for "324: Topics in Chinese Religions" and "396: Islam in the Modern World" and then drop whichever I liked the least, but it turns out that this Religious Studies department has a different numbering system and though, strictly speaking, I have the prerequisites, I don't actually have the courses one is expected to have taken before third year.

RELS 396: Islam in the Modern World
I've kept this so long on the off-chance that I might decide I'm able to handle it. Haven't attended yet because I had a snowball's chance in h-ll of making it at 8:30 either Tuesday. Will probably end up dropping because of the time slot alone. Come to think of it, what chance do I have of catching up on two week's worth of work for a 300-level course?

MUSC 391: Theory and Analysis III, cont'd
Fairly self-explanatory. Apparently, the material is easier this term because we're returning to rudiments for post-tonal music. Still, to my eyes it looks quite arithmetical, and I'm miserable at memorizing formulas and calculating with speed.

MUSC 178: Wind Ensemble, cont'd
As usual (i.e. delightful).

MUSC 128: Keyboard Harmony I, cont'd
Hate the memorization but rather enjoy the figured bass and sight transposition exercises when I'm practicing on my own. The lab itself is a necessary evil; don't let that many smart-alecks near keyboards at 10:30 in the morning... please.

MUSC 321: Applied Study III (flute), cont'd
Actually, last Wednesday's lesson went surprisingly well. I need to replace my (lost for the stupidest reason) bite plate and get back into physiotherapy soon.

Flute Choir (but not registered for credit)
Given my druthers[1], I'd drop it--virtually no musicality involved, hurts my back holding a flute up for really extended periods of time, and the intonation is painful--but my flute professor has guilt-tripped me into a corner.

[1] How the heck does one spell that word?
