When fandom worlds collide

Hahahahaha! (Note that this is proudly mentioned on Jian's own site.)
Actually, I've only seen "Play" once or twice as I don't tend to watch much television while at university. The subject line refers to those brief, heady days of Moxy Fruvous fandom. (To tell the truth, I've followed Dave Matheson's recent career more closely than Jian's. On a related not: man, I wish I could see this.) And I have yet to see "Monday Report"... but I loved Rick Mercer in "22 Minutes" and "Made in Canada"[4].
Notes for non-Canadians:
[1] Before any Jon Stewart or Craig Kilborn fans start crying foul--and I admit it looks mighty suspicious--keep in mind that Rick Mercer was doing "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" (very similar in some ways to "The Daily Show") more than a decade ago, and "The Daily Show" has been airing in Canada for only a few years.

As we all know, Paul Martin[2] has a big job ahead of him. But it’s all a question of priorities.
And obviously the number one priority of the Martin government, even before job creation or health care, is to kill off any Chretien[3]ites that may still be left standing.
Which brings us to "Who will be Canada's next Governor General?" There are many choices. However, the traditional criterion of who can be Governor General of Canada is threefold and is clearly laid out in Canada’s constitution.
Like Adrienne Clarkson, they must have been at some point in their life an on-air personality at the CBC, they must be able to hold their liquor and they must appeal to the youth of Canada.
So, with that in mind, the top contendors for Canada’s next Governor General are:
Don Newman, the host of Politics on CBC Newsworld
Wayne Rostad, host of On the Road Again, because he’s already used to travelling.
And of course, Jian Ghomeshi, host of Play because he has the eyes of an Arabian princess.
