Mar. 14th, 2004 04:53 pmThe music director of Wind Ensemble finally told us last Tuesday that our playing this term is ("with a few notable exceptions") dreadful. It's been bugging the hell out of me that some people don't take it seriously, don't practice their music, don't count, and most of all (gahhh!) don't show respect for the director during rehearsals (talking amongst themselves, etc.). I started out really enjoying this band at the beginning of the year (because it's so much better than the one at my old school); much to my dismay, I had actually started to dislike going to rehearsals.
What a relief that he finally said something! I'm surprised he kept it to himself for so long. He shouldn't have left it so close to our upcoming concert. The actual lecture was very unpleasant of course but matters appeared to have improved on Thursday.
We had the year's first flute sectional on Thursday. (BTW, when informed of our plans the director said that "the flutes are the least of my worries.") It was productive, I thought--nice that us second flutes could have some two-way communication with the first row for once.
Completely unrelated: Can someone explain "!!11one" to me?
