More new Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Jul. 1st, 2004 08:17 pmThe new Hitchhiker's Guide radio series will be broadcast in September! Yet again: eee! I have memorized the "making of" movie as well. It's great that the remaining members of the original cast were re-assembled. They all sound the same! (More or less; Susan Sheridan admittedly does sound different.) They look considerably older, of course, but this is radio so it doesn't matter.
It's a great pity it took so long for the movie to get going, because Simon Jones really is the perfect Arthur Dent. Though the television series was sorely lacking in budget and fell far below the quality level of the radio series (and included a couple of weird casting changes), his double takes added much to the voice interpretation of the part. Even now--though one cannot tell from the publicity photos and has to watch the movie--he is (IMHO) still quite adorable in his dimpled, puzzled, geeky, sad sack sort of way. (His actual non-Arthur-Dent personality appears to have a nice touch of archness as well.)

PS: Happy Canada Day. I didn't do anything aside from staying home from work in an effort to allow my feet to regain sensation in the toes... but hurray for Canada Day anyhow.
