My birthday was okay, as school days go. I managed to get up in time to eat breakfast at the meal hall and nearly get to my first class (9:30) on time. (This is a great accomplishment for me.) My near-punctuality came at a price, however; I forgot my text books, anthologies, laptop, and ruled paper at my house, so I had to make do without seeing the musical examples and write (messily) on staff paper.
Mum ordered a cake for me through a service offered by the food services (meal hall) company, with their assurance that it would be delivered. Sure enough, I was called in middle of the afternoon and told to pick it up myself at the meal hall. So, as I write now from the computer lab in the conservatory, my cake is sitting, partially eaten, in my locker downstairs. On the positive side, several people wished me a happy birthday when they saw me walking around carrying a cake.
I really should be finishing up here and heading home to get some sleep. Now that I've been to classes, the full extent of the workload that awaits this weekend has dawned upon me.
One other thing: I have been trying since September to get together a group of people to see The Arrogant Worms in a nearby city (either Fredericton or Halifax). It doesn't look like it's going to happen because though it's the closest they've played in years, the cities are both a three-hour drive away and all methods of public transportation cost at least $60 per round trip. Getting there and back in itself triples the price, which is absolutely ridiculous. I must say, I'm annoyed.
[I have a better photo of myself with the new glasses, but the computer with the scanner is still occupied...]
