I am so out of touch that I just found out about the Madrid bombings a couple hours ago. I condemn the attacks to the fullest extent possible, as I condemn all terrorism, but I can't help worrying what further effect this will have on the vicious cycle of revenge. In my (admittedly limited) perspective, violence begets violence. No matter whether it was ETA or al Qaeda (or neither)--on with the "war on terror"! Fewer civil liberties, more violence, more death, more anger, more retaliation back and forth...

I almost cried when I read the news this morning. Poor innocent civilians. Imagine having to pick your family members out from all the corpses strewn everywhere...

Yeah, violence begets violence. Pacifists' pleas of "why can't we all get along?" fall on deaf ears.

I did cry when I read about it. Those people on the trains at that time in the morning were Madrid's most vulnerable too: immigrants, blue-collar workers, school children... people who least need something like this piled on them (not that anybody needs it, obviously).
